American Cable Selects VoX Communications for Voice over IP Services

Independent Cable Operator Will Sell Private-Labeled VoX VoIP to its Broadband Customers

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. and CELEBRATION, Fla., July 21, 2005 – eLEC Communications Corp. (OTCBB:ELEC), an integrated communications service provider, today announced that American Cable Services, an independent cable operator located in Ocala, Fla. (www.americable.us), has signed a contract with eLEC’s wholly owned subsidiary VoX Communications, to obtain Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services for its broadband customers on a private-label basis. VoX Communications is a premier packet communications services company providing residential and business VoIP telephone service nationwide.

VoX’s CIO Mark Richards stated, “We are very pleased that American Cable has come on board with VoX to take advantage of our suite of VoIP services. They are a significant member of the 1,100 independent cable operators in the U.S., and represent a very important step for VoX as we grow our wholesale VoIP customer base. They are contracted for 150,000 homes in Florida, many of which have “mandatory phone” under their Home Owners Association, and VoX will be the underlying VoIP carrier for those homes. We’ve made a strategic decision to become the preferred VoIP solution for cable operators nationwide. Independent cable operators represent a sizeable and meaningful portion of this market, most of whom are weighing plans for a VoIP offering.”

American Cable’s President James George added, “We have been evaluating the VoIP industry for the past year, and now we’ve selected the best of the breed – VoX Communications. We fully endorse the products offered by VoX and the technology and people behind them. It is very exciting how quickly VoX can bring us into the world of telephony, which is a service our customers want from us. Offering VoIP will help us retain our valuable customers, and generate more revenue at the same time.”

eLEC’s CEO Paul Riss commented, “We are receiving inquiries from many prospective VoIP wholesale customers and we are carefully weighing which customers would provide the most immediate and long-term benefit, both in terms of dollars and market direction. With two of our board members, Gayle Greer and Michael Khalilian, having occupied high-level positions in the cable industry, we feel that we already possess critical expertise that differentiates us within this industry. We also believe that vertical expertise with respect to certain industries, like cable, will naturally lead to advantages in market penetration, market defensibility, and product development that would further permit us to differentiate services in specific market segments.”
